aqua room + portal replica are excited to bring you portal room - a night of sonic exploration featuring the one and only nicole skeltys - aka artificial, and one half of the iconic b(if)tek. 

nicole skeltys is best known for her work alongside kate crawford as the pioneering electro-femme outfit, b(if)tek and her solo project, artificial. active from the mid-90s - early 2000s, b(if)tek created a raw, futuristic and analogue driven sound spanning from ambient and experimental sounds to fiery dance music + electronica - “feminism with a wink and a bleep”. her solo project artificial expanded on her deep, eccentric and eclectic sensibilities.

off the back of recent performances in naarm for paper-cuts + un:send festival, nicole returns to sydney for the first time in over twenty years in anticipation of the double-vinyl release of b(if)tek’s ’sub-vocal theme park’ (1996) via portal replica, which features never-heard-before ‘lost’ tracks from the pair.

warming the floor will be portal replica’s basil + tarj, and closing out the night will be naarm’s dolly, with a record bag full to the brim of electro-house oddities, wonky breaks and steezy tech house.
