FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

• Is there a cost to attend the event?

  No. This is a FREE event for the community - we’re excited to celebrate our bicentenary with you!

• Do I need to register a ticket for each person attending?

  Yes. Please make sure you have a ticket for each person (even if they are an infant). If you are booking on a bus or boat tour as well, please make sure you book a ticket for each person.

• Will I need to show my ticket?

  Please have your ticket on you when you arrive.

• I have a ticket - is there a specific time I should arrive?

  Arrive anytime between 10am and 4pm. If you have booked a boat or bus tour, please arrive 10 minutes before your departure time (noting the boat tour location is different to the PortFest location!)

• How do I book a boat or bus tour?

  Once you book your PortFest ticket, you'll be able to select a time for the boat and bus tours.

• I've booked on a boat tour where does it leave from?

  The boat tours will leave from the charter pens at the Albany Town Marina on Toll Place. 

  
  It is approximately 1 kilometre from PortFest to the Albany Town Marina. We estimate it will take between 15 and 20 minutes to walk.

  Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your departure time.

• I've booked on a bus tour, where does it leave from?

  Bus tours will leave from inside the PortFest event, near Berth 2.

• If I leave the port for my boat tour, can I return on the same PortFest ticket?

  Absolutely! You are welcome to come and go throughout the day.

• Can I just do the boat tour?

  Yes certainly. You'll still need to register for a PortFest ticket, and then select the boat tour. You do not need to enter PortFest to gain entry onto the boat as these tours are taking off from a separate place.

• Can I just book a PortFest ticket or do I have to also book a bus/boat tour?

  If you don't wish to go on a boat or bus tour, you can skip past those specific tickets during the booking process.

• Can under 18s come on their own?

  No. All children under 18 will need to be supervised by their parent/guardian during the event.

• Will I need a form of ID?

  If you are going on a boat or bus tour please bring your ID.

• If the weather is bad, will the event be cancelled?

  Yes, we will cancel the event if the forecast is for unfavourable weather conditions. We will notify you by email 24-hours in advance.

• Can I bring my own food and drink to the event?

  Yes, you can bring your own food and drink to PortFest. There is plenty of space to enjoy a picnic. Water refill stations will be available, along with a range of food vans if you'd like to purchase additional items.

• Is alcohol allowed?

  No, this is a smoke-free, vape-free, and alcohol-free event.

• Will there be an ATM onsite?

  No, food vendors may have their own EFTPOS facilities, however we cannot guarantee availability. If you would like to purchase food, you may wish to bring cash.

• Will there be accessible facilities for people with a disability?

  Yes, we will have accessible toilets available. We also have designated parking available for people with ACROD permits. Please email us at comms@southernports.com.au ahead of time if you require accessible parking.

• Are there any security requirements to take the tour of HMAS Warramunga?

  Yes. All adults are required to show photo ID when checking in for their tour.  Also, in accordance with the Defence Act, crew members may ask to search your bag as you enter or exit the ship.  

• Are there any physical requirements to go on the tour of HMAS Warramunga?

  Yes. The Navy asks that you are fit enough to walk up approximately 10 flights of stairs.

• Can children go on the tour of the HMAS Warramunga?

  Yes, children are allowed to go on the tour.  Depending on their age and ability, they may not be able to access certain areas of the ship. The crew will advise you on the day.  

• Are there any restrictions for people with mobility devices or prams boarding HMAS Warramunga?

  Yes, due to the number of ascents and descents, the tour is not suitable for people in wheelchairs, children in prams or those with mobility impairments, such those using a walking stick or moon boot.

• Do I need to wear enclosed shoes to go on the tour of HMAS Warramunga?

  Yes, you will not be allowed onboard the vessel in open footwear - please note crocs, thongs and heeled shoes are not suitable. Please wear sneakers, boots or similar.
