Walk & Talk Project
An immersive learning experience that takes Portuguese outside the classroom. Participants walk, talk, and practice the language in real-life contexts. This project can be combined with online lessons for deeper learning.

As the founder of Raízes Brasileiras and publisher of several studies on community language acquisition, Dr. Lilian Fleuri offers workshops (online and in person) on multilingualism, heritage language, and cultural identity, supporting families and communities in raising bilingual children. Dr. Lilian Fleuri is a linguist and a highly experienced language teacher with over 25 years of expertise. With her expertise and professional guidance, you'll not only join a supportive community of Portuguese speakers, but also build confidence in speaking, develop effective language learning strategies, and grow into an independent learner.
Walk & Talk em Português
Are you learning Portuguese and looking for a chance to practice real conversation with other learners? This is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for! Saturday morning, once or twice per month, Dr. Lilian brings together a group of people who share the same goals: to strengthen their Portuguese, and become confident, fluent speakers. Meetings are held mainly at Bunya Creek Reserve, accessible via Albany Creek. They might also be held in Portuguese speaking coffee shops and restaurants, museums, and other parks around Brisbane. Students are welcome to propose new places to meet. We gather Saturdays morning fortnightly, for a gentle walk through the bush or around Brisbane city. Please come prepared o enjoy this pleasant immersion in the Portuguese language. PORTUGUESE ONLY! This ensures a truly immersive experience with communication exclusively in Portuguese. NO PRESSURE. We are all language learners, and we understand that it takes time and patience to express ourselves in a second language. This is a space to build confidence and enjoy the journey. Private online lessons with Dr Lilian Português

Students have private access to specially designed materials to practice grammar, expand vocabulary, develop reading and writing skills, and improve listening comprehension.
Group Online Lessons (Practical Grammar Focus)
Small-group classes centered on clear, practical grammar. Participants have access to specially designed materials to learn and practice key structures such as verb conjugation, pronoun usage, and gender and number agreement. Sessions combine guided practice, interaction, and real-life application, allowing learners to practice correct structures while speaking with the group. Each group runs for 3 months (12 lessons). Lessons take place on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:00 pm (BNE time), starting on February 5.
