Positive Behaviour Support: What it is and How to Implement it
To be announced
Event description
- Positive Behaviour Support (also called PBIS, PBL, PB4L, SWPBS, and MTSS) is a framework of practices based on supporting behaviour that is aligned with disability rights, the social model of disability, and the promotion of quality of life, by using principles of behaviourism and the scientific process to understand behaviour.
- In this webinar the presenter will discuss what PBS should look like in practice (emphasis on understanding why the behaviour is occurring, tiered supports, changing the environment and skill building) and what it should not look like (emphasis on rewards and punishment, compliance without considering diversity, prevention only with no skill building).
- Participants will also be provided with examples of activities schools can do that are considered PBS.
- Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the presenter.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN ONLINE EVENT
