Positive Breastfeeding Workshop Friday 25th September 2026

About this event

This three-hour Positive Breastfeeding Workshop at Western Sydney Local Health District and Westmead Hospital (ABN: 48 702 394 764) is for women and their partner or support person. It will be held on Friday evening from 6 pm. to 9 pm. You can attend this program either face-to-face or online. A short break is included.

Ideal for pregnant women and partners if:

• Attending the Saturday or Sunday Positive Birth and Parenting Workshop

• Women who have had previous difficulties breastfeeding

• Women who require additional information not provided in other programs.

The workshop is free for those attending the Saturday, or Sunday Positive Birth and Parenting Workshop. When completing the registration page, you must include your booking number. Please select 'bonus ticket'.

This breastfeeding workshop is designed to give you the right information and support for breastfeeding your baby. The workshop is conducted by a qualified Lactation Consultant who will answer your questions, provide you with problem-solving strategies and boost your confidence so that you may successfully breastfeed your baby.

Partners are welcome and encouraged to attend. One ticket per couple.

• Understanding how breastfeeding works

• Positions for breastfeeding

• Signs of successful breastfeeding

• Normal behaviours for breastfed babies

• Identifying possible breastfeeding problems – and what to do

• Where to get help

• Dad’s role – a key to successful breastfeeding

• Diet, medications and alcohol with breastfeeding

• Feeling confident

If you have diabetes, we recommend you attend our Breastfeeding Education for Pregnant Women with Diabetes education session, which runs every Thursday from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. This is a FREE session in addition to the Positive Breastfeeding Workshop. Please ask your educator if you require additional information.

Do I bring my partner to all the classes with me? Partners are encouraged to attend. You can bring a support person if your partner can't make it.

What can I bring to the event? You may like to bring a snack. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable? No

Can I update my registration information? Yes, you can return to the booking page to do so.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No, you don't need to bring your ticket to the event.

What is the refund policy?

A full refund may be given only in the following circumstances:

• Premature birth

• Hospital admission

• Cancellation request 3 weeks before the class commencement date

If less than three weeks' notice, you will incur a fee of $30.00. NO REFUND will be given for cancellation requests less than three days before a class commences. NO REFUND will be given for change of mind after the program has commenced.

Private Health Fund rebates may be available after you've attended this workshop. A certificate is issued on request.
