About the course:
This interactive ONLINE workshop is designed for early childhood educators who work with children from birth to six years of age.
Participants will learn to:
- Create a classroom where children can develop a sense of belonging and significance based on the importance of contribution and mutual respect.
- Understand how young children learn and how to adapt teaching to the needs of this age group.
- Foster essential social and emotional skills to support development and school readiness.
- Understand behavior and how to guide it in groups of young children.
- Teach the essential skills for developmentally appropriate participation in class meetings.
- Learn Positive Discipline concepts for use in the classroom and to support parents
Meet the trainers
Steven Foster
CERTIFIED POSITIVE DISCIPLINE LEAD TRAINER and a co-author of the Early Childhood Educators manual and Positive Discipline for Children with Special Needs.
Mark Powell
CERTIFIED POSITIVE DISCIPLINE TRAINER, Montessori educator, trainer and materials designer, Director of Education Services for Montessori Australia.
This course will run over 5 Sundays: 2,9, 16, 23, 30th March.

- NESA Accredited: Completing Safeguarding Student/child Mental Health; Positive Discipline will contribute 16 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of Student/child Mental health addressing standard descriptors 4.1.2, 4.2.2, 4.3.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
- TQI Accredited: Approved for 10 hours.
- Completing students receive membership and certification from the international Positive Discipline Association. The course fee includes PDA membership, books and materials.
