PPTA Komiti Pasifika film screening: Tinā - Ōtautahi
Event description
Ngā mihi o te tau hou!
Komiti Pasifika and PPTA in partnership with Madman Entertainment are excited to invite our members to a FREE preview screening of the much-anticipated film, Tinā.
Tinā (the Samoan word for mother) is written and directed by Miki Magasiva. Tinā stars Anapela Polataivao as Mareta Percival, a Samoan teacher who struggles to come to terms with the death of her daughter in the Christchurch earthquakes. Mareta reluctantly takes on a role as a substitute teacher at a private school. She is surprised to find children in desperate need of guidance, inspiration, and love and inspires her students to perform at a big choral competition.
Tinā was chosen to open the 2024 Hawai’i International Film Festival and anyone who has seen the trailer knows that this will be a feel-good hit here in Aotearoa New Zealand, and is likely to be taught in classrooms for at least the next decade!
There are three screenings around the country - in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, Te Awa Kairangi Lower Hutt, and Ōtautahi Christchurch. You are on the event page for Ōtautahi Christchurch.
Tickets are free for PPTA members and their guests (limit 3 tickets per person). Access code has been shared in PPTA messages - email socials@ppta.org.nz if you need to request a booking code. Get in quick, tickets are limited and won’t sit around long!
