Event description

Sunday, September 28th | 9am–1pm
Growing Place Social Farm, Cowaramup
Sliding scale: $50–$90 | 4-hour half-day workshop

Come spend a gentle morning in the garden and kitchen exploring the practical methods to grow and use five of the most well-loved herbs I reach for in my home herbal practice.

We’ll start outside, meeting these herbs where they grow—learning about growing them from seed or cutting, and ways to work with what’s possible in your own home garden space.

Together, we’ll get to know each plant’s actions, energetics, and uses across common needs like digestion, immune support, first aid, skin care, respiratory health and calming the nervous system.

After time in the garden, we’ll move into the kitchen to explore a range of effective and appropriate methods to make your own herbal medicines using what you grow. You’ll get to taste, smell and experience examples of infusions, tinctures, glycerites, herbal salves and oils made from these five plants.

We’ll explore the basics of harvesting, drying, and storing herbs, plus run through the solvent and extraction methods involved in processing these herbs to yield a quality, safe and effective medicines.

We’ll also make a couple of these preparations together to gain confidence in making these herbal medicines season to season at home. You’ll leave with recipes, 2 handmade herbal products, plant notes, and hopefully the inspiration to keep your herbal making going at home.

You’ll receive:

  • Take-home recipe booklet + plant monographs

  • 2 herbal medicines made on the day

  • Herbal tea + light snacks during the session

  • Access to the herb garden for harvesting cuttings or plants

Sliding scale pricing: $50–$90 – pay what you can afford
