PRACTICE 101: Public Art 

Join Arts Northern Rivers and Brunswick Nature Sculpture Walk for a professional development workshop on 'Public Art: considerations and opportunities for working in public space.'

In this two-hour workshop, SCAPE Public Art Executive Director Richard Aindow will offer practical information towards creating temporary and permanent public art in communities. This discussion based session will encourage creative thinking and outline possible opportunities for Northern Rivers artists to engage with the arts community in Otautahi Christchurch in 2025.

9:30am – 12pm (10am start)
Morning tea provided

This workshop is designed for professional artists working in any artform interested in public space.

About the Facilitator

Richard Aindow is the Executive Director of SCAPE Public Art. A passionate leader with a long history in the creative arts, Richard was the General Manager of Aotearoa’s longest-running contemporary dance company, Footnote New Zealand Dance, between 2014 and 2021. Before Footnote, he worked as the General Manager and then Editor of Wellington’s magazine, FishHead. Richard is a director of arts-led tech company Pickpath, has held senior governance roles in non-profit organisations in public radio and community services, and works voluntarily as an arts assessor.

SCAPE Public Art is a charity based in Ōtautahi Christchurch, New Zealand, that produces new contemporary public art for communities. Over the past 26 years, SCAPE has become the largest producer of public art in Aotearoa New Zealand, bringing together art and industry to deliver complex projects.
