Travel instructions

We are about a 5 minute drive south from Ireland Rd. in South Bend, 1/2 mi. west of Old U.S. 31. Take the Kern Rd. exit and go south on Old U.S. 31. Look for Osborne Rd., turn right (west). Continue about 1/2 mi. until you see a long driveway on your right (north side of street). Prairie Winds Farm sign- go up long driveway and park at Visitor's Parking in front of the small red building.

Entry instructions

Park at Visitor's Parking and walk your child up to our registration table located near our home.

After entry instructions

After checking your child in you can stay for a few minutes until they find their assigned group. Please do not linger once they are with their group and counselors. Especially for the youngest children, your concise departure will indicate your trust in them to handle their day; making new friends and enjoying the farm!

Hazards

We attempt to create an environment where disabilities of most types can be accommodated. Please let us know ahead of time so we can prepare assistance.

Toilet location

There's a farm toilet just inside the small red barn near the parking.

Accessible parking

adjacent to the turn-around along the west facing wall of the small red barn.

Wheelchair access

Wheelchairs can be used at the barnyard and garden areas. Transfer to a quiet electric golf cart is available for wheelchair bound participants to be able to explore the nature trails.

social/emotional assistance

Volunteers and teen counselors can be recruited if we know ahead of time that a participant will need one on one basic guidance. Examples would include help staying with the rest of the child's assigned group, dispensing medications, or providing a higher level of emotional support than typically needed. We are unable to provide specially trained assistants but welcome trained aides to attend with the child.
