Event description

PRANZ is returning to Murchison to celebrate 10 years since the first NZ Packrafting Meetup!

We will again be based in Murchison on the four rivers plain, the meeting place of the Buller, Matakitaki, Mangles and the Matiri, and of course there is also the mighty Maruia just down the road as well. This gives us great access to a large number of suitable runs which we can use over a wide range of flows. Being within the same catchment also helps as we don't have to decontaminate between rivers.

This event will be catered by the awesome Reefton Community Kitchen who will provide catering with dinner on Wednesday, breakfast and dinner on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and breakfast only Sunday. There is a Four Square in town for food supplies, but the options are limited so bring what you need with you if possible. Murchison also features a number of cafes and a decent pub.

We’ll be staying at Riverside Holiday Park, which has a range of cabin and camping options. You will need to book your own accommodation through their website, this is at additional cost and you will need to pay Riverside directly. There will be a marquee set up with seating – heaps of space for socialising and events, whatever the weather.

Please arrive at Riverside on or by Wednesday morning and attend registration between 10am-12pm.

There are a number of appropriate paddling runs and we are there to offer suggestions and advice. However, the trips are not guided. We recommend having done an introductory packrafting course or have had plenty of experience paddling Grade 2 white water to get the most of the Meet up. We will endeavour to ensure there are people in each group who know the river and put in/take out sites but you are responsible for yourself. We ask you to paddle at your ability and use the Meet Up as an opportunity to hone your skills, try new rivers and meet different packrafters.

You will also be expected to have whitewater appropriate PFDs and helmets when on the river. We will circulate more details on this soon. We reserve the right to exclude anyone from trips if they do not meet these requirements. We care about your safety and we want this to be a fun week.

We will be seeking registrations of interest in workshops and will release a tentative program as soon as we are able. If you have any suggestions for content you’d like to see included or can deliver, feel free to drop us an email, otherwise lock in the dates, and get ready to get wet!

We realise there is a lot of experience in the community that could be shared, so if you’ve got a skill you want to share, or a session you want to run, eg knot practice or how to gopro, get in touch.

Buy your tickets by 20 December! Late registrations aren't guaranteed.
