Date: Saturday 22nd February 2025
Time: 10am to 5pm
Cost: $225 inc. GST plus $30 materials fee payable on the day
Payment in full is required, which includes a non-refundable deposit of $75
The day begins with a comprehensive lecture and slide show on jewellery bases, adhesives, and suitable materials, followed by an examination of design for jewellery and how it differs from standard mosaic design. Precision cutting, the essential key to fine mosaic jewellery, will be discussed, demonstrated, and practiced. Jewellery laying techniques will be thoroughly covered, and students can expect lots of great tips!
Class participants will receive lots of individual attention as they work in silver plate pendant bases using mosaic gold, smalti, filati, and other high end mosaic materials. Students will leave with a finished pendant or with adequate materials to complete the project later. A comprehensive handout will be provided, and participants should expect to depart with the knowledge and skills to create precision mosaic jewellery on their own. This workshop should particularly benefit participants of all levels who are wanting to learn to cut material more precisely, want to add high end mosaic jewellery to their skill set, or are interested in learning to work in small scale mosaic.
Students in this class will be provided with all materials and tools to create their mosaic pendant except wheeled glass nippers and protective eyewear.
What to bring: Please bring wheeled glass nippers (Leponitt brand preferred though not required, Montolitt brand not suitable for this application) and safety glasses to the workshop, as well as any magnifying eyewear or tools if required or desired.
