Growing crops from seed starts with good germination, whether you're a professional market gardener or a novice home gardener. This session explains all you will need know about getting great germination, creating healthy soil and soil carbon sequestration, setting you up for a lifetime of success.


About the Facilitator

Jerry is an internationally renowned horticulturist and a pioneer of sustainability and organic best practice and comes from four generations of farmers and gardeners. Emigrating from England, he managed Sydney Botanic Gardens from 1992, then created ‘Bellis’, an affordable, sustainable house and garden in subtropical Brisbane in 2003. Growing 500 kinds of plant, the 300 sq metre food garden feeds the household and produces a surplus for trading. Also a Director of the Seed Savers Network, his seed bank combines with the nursery to provide a community gene bank, supplying community nurseries, farmers and collectors with a range of seed and plants not found in the trade.
