Prepare, Plant and Prune Fruit Trees
Event description
Whether you're planning a backyard mini-orchard or managing a larger collection of fruit trees, this hands-on workshop will guide you through everything you need to know for healthy, productive trees.
We’ll cover how to plan your orchard layout, prepare soil, plant young trees, and prune them for strong growth. You’ll also learn how to care for mature trees—shaping and reducing size, minimising disease, and improving fruit yield. We’ll dive into tree and soil health, fertilising, and watering techniques too.
Bring your questions! There’ll be plenty of time to discuss your individual garden or orchard challenges.
We’re thrilled to welcome two guest experts:
Chris Day, passionate grower and Rare Fruit Society member from Every Day Sustainable Living
Wez Redden, sixth-generation orchardist
Held at Sophie’s Patch 2.0 in the beautiful mid Murray region, this workshop includes a delicious morning tea or coffee and a slice of Sophie’s famous homemade cake.
