Are you feeling ready and confident about life after school for your high school student with disability?

Transitioning from high school is a time full of change – with the loss of a young person’s usual routines and daily structure. Planning ahead for this time and being intentional can be helpful with creating new rhythms and routines, and open up all the exciting possibilities of adulthood.

If you are a family member, parent or carer of a school student with a disability, these peer conversations can provide a starting point for you and help you feel less alone.

Join us as we meet to discuss what it takes for young adults to create their own Good Life! Learn from others who have already been through this transition, and other peers as we seek to support one another through this transition.

Discussion Facilitator:

Deb McNair is a Facilitator at CRU and the parent of a 16-year-old daughter with disability. Her personal experience as both a parent and a teacher, has shaped a strong commitment to inclusion, a deep appreciation of diversity, and a love of building genuine connections within community. Over many years, Deb and her whole family have thoughtfully planned ahead to support her daughter’s future and adult life. She also has many years of experience in peer support, both in supporting other families and facilitating school student groups.

Who should attend?

This series of peer discussions is for families of school students with disabilities who are thinking about life after school. They are an opportunity to connect with others and hear from families further along the journey into adult life.

It's a great way to connect in a friendly, supportive and caring environment.

What do I need to participate?

CRU will be using Zoom meetings as a platform. To participate you will need:

a computer, tablet or smart phone with internet access
speakers/sound
a microphone and video camera are not essential but will be helpful for your participation.

Event details

This workshop will be held via a Zoom Session and log-in details will be sent to participants who register a few days prior to the event
Log-in will be available 15 minutes prior to each event commencing.
The discussions will not be recorded.
