    Preparing for the 2023 HSC Science Extension Exam (17/3)

    This interactive workshop contains brand new resources for Science Extension teachers, helping them to analyse the 2022 exam and best prepare their students for the 2023 HSC.Ā 

    In this workshop, teachers will:

    • leverage 2022 RAP Analyses to benefit Science Extension teaching and learning
    • scrutinise the 2022 exam for emerging themes and commonplace mistakes by students
    • decipher the stimuli within questions
    • pilot mark brand new bespoke questions and sample answers
    • unpack and attempt a brand new 15-mark question
    • identify strategies for cross-module questions
    • collaboratively develop an exam-style question with marking criteria and exemplar answer

    All teachers will walk away with a variety of resources to assist their students in their forthcoming exams.Ā Also, all attendees will receive our bespoke RAP Analysis Spreadsheet upon registration to use for their own exam analysisĀ meetings at school.

    New Accreditation

    CompletingĀ Preparing for the 2023 HSC Science Extension ExamĀ will contributeĀ 5 hoursĀ of NSWĀ Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area ofĀ DeliveryĀ and assessment of NSW Curriculum/Early Years Learning FrameworkĀ addressingĀ standard descriptorsĀ 1.1.2 and 2.1.2Ā from the Australian Professional Standards forĀ Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

    Workshop Delivered by Bill Matchett

    Bill Matchett has worked as a Science Teacher in South West Sydney since 1995, starting at Elizabeth Macarthur HS before moving to Westfields Sports HS as Head of Science. He is currently Head of Science at Macquarie Fields HS. Bill is working with LMC developing networks for Science Extension. He is an experienced HSC marker, and senior HSC marker, and has written text resources for Nelson Cengage.
