Description

From Presence to Contribution is a training and mentoring program for workers who want to support people with disability to take on valued roles and strengthen their connection to community.

CRU will guide participants through the foundations of building belonging in community. Topics will include:

  • Community Development approaches

  • Valued roles in community

  • Principles for building belonging

  • Practical strategies you can use as a support worker

The program runs from October – December. What you can expect:

  • Two in-person workshops in South Brisbane

    Friday 9th October and Friday 4th December (9:30am – 3:30pm)

  • One online workshop

    Wednesday 28th October (10am - 12pm)

  • One practicum in a small group

    (between Oct-Dec) (2hr sessions)

  • Coaching and mentoring with CRU will be available individually and in small groups

This project features a complementary leadership and mentoring stream for young people who are neurodivergent or have a disability. The practicum will provide a chance for support workers to meet the participating young people to reflect on the barriers and enablers to social connectedness. Workers will be encouraged to contribute ideas from their experience and training to assist the young people to meet their goal of greater community belonging.
