    Event description

The goal of this presentation is to equip fieldwork educators with resources to help both themselves and their students navigate the challenges posed by bias in assessment and evaluations. Bias can arise in clinical settings due to various factors, making it essential for occupational therapy practitioners and educators to recognize and tackle bias through education and strategic approaches. By attending this webinar, we believe our audience will gain a deeper understanding and access to tools that promote a fair and collaborative practice environment, fostering the growth and success of their students.

    Learning Objectives:

    - Understand the detrimental effect of racial bias and microaggressions (NL) on impact on cognitive capacity and competence
    - Identify barriers to objective assessment/evaluation of students and patients
    - What strategies can fieldwork educators implement to support and educate a diverse student and patient population
    - Understanding the role of clinicians in advocating for health of ALL people

    Presenters:

Nikki Lynn, OTD, MS, OTR/L and Courtney Gohean MS/OTR/L
