Ageing with Pride & Resilience – A Bendigo Seniors Festival panel discussion
Date & Time: Thursday 9 October, 1:00pm – 3:00pm
Location: Bendigo Health Concert Hall, 100 Barnard Street (Access via Mercy Street), Bendigo
Presented by: Thorne Harbour Country, with the support of Bendigo Health
As part of Bendigo Seniors Festival, join us for a thought-provoking panel discussion exploring how aged care and mental health services in regional Victoria can better understand and respond to the needs of older LGBTI people and people living with HIV.
This event brings together LGBTI seniors, peers, and peer workers to share lived experiences and professional insights into inclusive, respectful, and culturally sensitive care. Together, we’ll explore the challenges, barriers, and opportunities to ensure that ageing with pride and dignity is a reality for all.
Panel themes will include:
What LGBTI inclusion looks like in later life
Needs and barriers to accessing services
Sexual health and wellbeing in ageing
Mental health, stigma, and isolation
Culturally sensitive community engagement
This event is ideal for aged care workers, mental health professionals, health practitioners, policy makers, and anyone committed to providing inclusive services for our diverse ageing communities.
Cost: Free to attend
Join us to strengthen understanding, build capacity, and help shape a future where seniors living with HIV and LGBTI seniors are valued and supported to live openly and with pride.
