Event description

Who wants to live forever?

Join us in the Primary Ethics Cafe for a discussion facilitated by our wonderful trainer Jarrah Aubourg. Jarrah will lead us through a session loosely based on our high school pilot curriculum.

It’s sometimes said that humans are the only creatures who know they will die. Whether or not this is true, we certainly think about death a lot - and we think about cheating death a lot. All round the world there are stories and myths about people who live forever. Advances in biotechnology now mean that in the future we may be able to radically extend the human lifespan - and with this potential comes a host of ethical issues.

In this Primary Ethics Cafe session we’ll consider:

  • If you could live forever, would you choose to?
  • How might society change if people could live forever?
  • Would such a society be sustainable and/or equitable?
