Join us for an engaging and encouraging day as compassionate, evidence-based care for the whole person—body, mind and spirit. Through practical teaching, reflection and discussion, we will consider how to provide respectful and relevant care and health education in resource-limited settings, and also in challenging situations in everyday Australian practice.

Presenters

Professor Valerie Fleming — Midwife and Nurse with extensive global clinical and research experience; Emeritus Professor of Women’s Health, Liverpool John Moores University, UK

Rosemary Isaacs — PRIME Tutor Australia, and Pacific, East Asia with background in general practice, aged care and Sexual Assault Forensic Medicine.

Anna Di Marco . Former GP. For 20 years delivering professional development. support and mentoring to hospital based trainees with a clinical role in virtual care.

Adrianus Thio. Geriatrics Fellow,  in Cognitive Impairment, movement disorders and medical education both at Monash, University Tasmania and resource poor settings

The input of everyone attending is valued. We are all learning together.

What the day will cover

·       The PRIME vision: whole person care at home and internationally

·       Culturally respectful and relevant interactive healthcare teaching with multidisciplinary teams

·       Facing Ethical challenges in healthcare

·       The relevance to health of underlying or explicit Christian world view in a variety of situations.

·       Combating compassion fatigue

·       Small-group prayer and reflection.

·       Opportunities for you to become more involved in PRIME as Tutor . All our tutors are volunteers. We especially hope to build our base o f Nurses and Allied Health tutors for our Aus/NZ team.

Format: Six hours of interactive teaching, with two hours of breaks. Morning and Afternoon tea and lunch included. Also opportunity to rest and change if attending CMDFA NSW Dinner nearby Sat evening.
