Principal's Event Series : Men's Health & Wellbeing Event.
Event description
7:30pm, Tuesday 12 August 2025 – Caulfield Campus, Cripps Auditorium
I am delighted to invite you to the next event in our Principal’s Event Series—a curated series of conversations that explore the issues that matter most to our students, families, and community.
In celebration of Men’s Health and Wellbeing, we welcome our community to an evening of honest reflection and powerful storytelling that shines a light on the physical and mental health of men and boys.
We are proud to present a panel of inspiring voices, including:
• Jimmy Bartel, AFL legend and mental health advocate
• Liam Twomey, Australian Paralympian
• Jackson Warne, representing the Shane Warne Foundation
Together, they will share insights into identity, resilience, and the value of connection and support. Through their stories, we aim to foster open conversation, challenge stigma, and encourage strength in vulnerability.
This is a free community event, open to students, staff, families, and alumni. We encourage you to join us, listen, and be part of a conversation that matters.

About Jimmy Bartel
Jimmy Bartel is a Brownlow Medallist, three-time AFL Premiership player, and one of the most respected figures in Australian sport—not only for his achievements on the field, but for his courage and advocacy off it.
A former Geelong Cats star, Jimmy played 305 games across a celebrated career that earned him recognition as one of the AFL’s most consistent and admired performers. Beyond the accolades, Jimmy has used his platform to champion causes close to his heart—most notably, raising awareness of family violence and promoting men’s mental health.
In 2016, Jimmy made headlines for growing a beard throughout the entire AFL season—a silent but powerful campaign to spark conversation and raise funds for domestic violence prevention. His advocacy was deeply personal and widely praised for its sincerity, helping shift public perception and encourage men to speak up and show up differently.
Jimmy continues to use his voice across media, mentoring, and community programs, and is a passionate believer in vulnerability as strength. He brings warmth, insight, and authenticity to conversations about masculinity, wellbeing, and how we support one another.
Jimmy is the Head of Football at Caulfield.
About Liam Twomey
Liam Twomey is a proud Caulfield Grammar School alumnus (Class of 2011), an elite para-triathlete, and a passionate advocate for youth mental health. Ranked among the top PTS4 paratriathletes in the world, Liam has represented Australia on the international stage, including at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, following standout performances at the World Triathlon Para Cups in Malaga and Tata, Hungary.Liam’s journey into elite sport began unexpectedly in 2018, after a friend encouraged him to try triathlon. What started as a reluctant “yes” evolved into a career built on discipline, resilience, and a deep love of sport—and doughnuts. Today, he is known not only for his athletic performance but for his ability to connect with others through humour, honesty, and humility
Beyond sport, Liam is a Mental Health Ambassador with the Black Dog Institute and a Mental Fitness Presenter with the Australian Institute of Sport, where he delivers wellbeing presentations to schools across Australia. His mission is to help young people develop positive psychological strategies and feel safe opening up about their challenges—on their terms, in their own time.
Liam is driven by the belief that our value lies not in outcomes, but in joy, growth, and connection. He hopes to see mental health education embedded in schools, para-athletes celebrated alongside their peers, and a world where young people feel seen, supported, and empowered.
