Event description

I have been using mono printing as a technique to create some of the visual elements which I incorporate into my botanical designs for more than 30 years. It’s amazing to use objects from nature such as fern fronds and dried leaves, add ink and a quality paper, then run them through an etching press to create a stunning work of art. A wide variety of artwork can be produced.

During this day-long workshop in my light filled main studio, looking towards the river and mountains, you will discover the delights of mono printing. I will guide you in the various mono print techniques using found items, a range of botanical specimens provided and through the use of hand-cut stencils. You will learn the key concepts to the processes involved in botanical printmaking using my 2 printing presses, whilst creating new and exciting artwork. Through demonstration and practice you will learn how to create visual complexity and exquisite tonal modulation in your prints.

You will leave the workshop with a portfolio of many new works and skills.

My workshops provide a stimulating and intimate environment in which to creatively explore the wondrous world of printmaking.

What's included:

  • All art materials
  • Morning tea
  • Delicious vegetarian lunch

Workshops are limited to five students except by special arrangement, and must have four to proceed. No prior experience is necessary.
