Priscilla Queen Of The Desert (Opening Night) - Bondiwood 2

Event description

1994 104 mins M 15+

Synopsis:
Two drag performers and a transgender woman travel across the desert to perform their unique style of cabaret.

Notes:
There’s never been anything like PRISCILLA.  Possibly the most successful export ever to come out of Australia, Stephan Elliot’s drag outback odyssey is a hilarious insight into Oz macho culture. A glittering cast go to town on this never say die adventure that combines the Director’s wry humour, and sharp insights into what it is to be Australian.  Priscilla became the forerunner, bringing drag into the mainstream.  From the ubiquitous stage musical to the Priscilla experience evening out this film has spawned and industry single handedly.  This the 30th anniversary of the film’s release and a fantastic time to celebrate the old girl’s achievements.

Reviews:
"The plot of Priscilla isn't as important as the outlandish, wicked dialogue , the wild costumes and makeup, and the general high spirits of the entire enterprise." - David Stratton
