Thursdays in January @ 12 noon
Steps of City Hall
You are cordially invited to join with other engaged citizens in a silent 20 minute sit on the steps of City Hall every Thursday at noon. While this gathering was initially convened by Buddhists, it is open to all people whose practice contains a silent contemplative aspect.
We dedicate the merit of our practice as we individually see fit, with the group intention of bringing peace into the world.
We sit or walk silently for 20 minutes to center ourselves first. We do this as a way to call others in to a centered way of being in the world. You may bring your own intentions into the space and practice as you wish. The practice environment of City Hall can be deeply and/or delightfully challenging depending on the day. It is a wonderful space to work on one's reactivity. There is a sitting meditation and also a walking meditation available as you desire.
We endeavor to have a short activity for people who wish to engage after the meditation. Since this is one ‘tactic’ under the broad goal of peace, we encourage others to duplicate this public practice elsewhere if San Francisco City Hall is not a viable location for you.
Thank you, and May All Beings Be At peace.
All who wish to ground in peace are welcome.
