MOISTURE METRICS: Soil Moisture Probe & Weather Station Demo Day
Description
MOISTURE METRICS: Soil Moisture Probe & Weather Station Demo Day
Thinking about soil moisture this season? Are you interested in making more informed and timely farm management decisions? Monitoring soil moisture helps you make smarter decisions about your pasture and crops- especially when conditions turn dry. Soil moisture data can help guide you on:
when to apply fertiliser
how to prevent waterlogging
when to irrigate to avoid crop stress
how to match stocking rates to pasture availability.
how to plan ahead and maximise your productivity
Join Adrian Orloff from MAC systems and Damien Gerrans from GeckoCLaN in exploring how information from the new KCLG soil probes and weather station can benefit your seasonal management decisions. Practical tools for smarter farming!

ABOUT THE KCLG SOIL PRBE & WEATHER STATION PROGRAM
Soil moisture content is an important consideration in farming decisions as it affects the availability of water and nutrients to plants. Using ag tech to reveal real-time soil moisture information will enable you to make informed decisions about grazing and the application of the right resources, at the right time and in the right quantity, to ensure optimal production and minimum waste of resources.
Data from our sites will be publicly available and once calibrated (after three years) sit within the Victorian-wide soil probe data network. The publicly available data will allow you to incorporate current and recent conditions into your decision-making and drought management strategies.
