‘Story Ways’ is a toolkit that introduces you to the foundations of oral storytelling in diverse educational contexts. Anna will guide you through a storytelling skills building journey, modelling how storytelling is used in diverse educational contexts including outdoor education, tour guiding, school programs, and community special events.

Anna Jarrett
Anna Jarrett is a professional storyteller, photographer, published author, teacher and outdoor guide, living on Walbunja Yuin country, south coast NSW Australia. Anna brings 37 years of international storytelling and community arts experience, with 15 years of guiding, conservation, and shorebird education, to her environmental storytelling. Anna also has experience in NSW schools teaching Years K-12 mainstream and support classes. Her diverse professional experience has given her a depth of understanding about the power of storytelling and creative thinking to connect with people, heart to heart, and to generate meaningful conversations about things that matter. Passionate about conservation education, nature connection and learning the languages of nature, Anna's core work is environmental storytelling, walking with the land, placemaking and stewardship. Anna designs and delivers custom programs for community and organisational clients, specialising in storytelling across platforms for community engagement, education and entertainment. She is a contributing author in the book; Storytelling Pedagogy in Australia and Asia, writing about sustainability education and social justice. Anna is also author of a shorebird education book, ‘The Birds, The Sea and Me’. In 2020, after the south coast bushfires, Anna presented a storytelling provocation at the Storying Climate Forum in Melbourne. This was the beginning of her deeper work with story, ecology and the Work that Reconnects (Joanna Macy). Anna’s environmental storytelling webinars with AAEE are part of her new professional learning storytelling series, ‘Story Ways’. Anna’s life work is informed by a deep belief that telling good stories will help us to stay connected as we find our way through these challenging times. Through stories, we can learn from the past and create new futures together. Anna’s storytelling workshops are embedded with changemaking processes and creative nature practices. ‘Story Ways’ supports educators to build their confidence, creativity and capacity to be engaging storytellers in changing and complex times.
