Join FLING's Dance Development Facilitator Chris Wade & Creative Director Beth Lane for our first series of Professional Training.

WHO IS IT FOR?:

Local professional dance/movement artists seeking regular training and connection with other artists
Recent graduates at professional/pre- professional skill level looking to extend and maintain their movement practice
Visiting dance artists looking to train and connect with the Bega Valley dance community
This program is for experienced adult movers or by invitation for younger artists at the discretion of the FLING artistic team.

WHAT TO EXPECT?:

Professional training will be led by FLING's experienced artistic team and occasionally visiting artists.

Class will work through the contemporary movement practice of the lead artist, so expect variation between people.

Class will often move quickly with the expectation that participants are able to self manage and adjust content to their needs

Class will sometimes move slowly or deep dive into material with the expectation that participants can drive their own knowledge and curiosity.

WHO IS LEADING?:

Dance Development Facilitator Christopher Wade is a dance artist and teacher with a passion for creating spaces where skills can be learned, limits can be tested and practice can be deepened; all in a safe, joyful way.

Chris maintains an easy-going energy throughout class, but knows how to motivate everyone in the room to participate as the best version of themselves on any given day. When it comes to movement, Chris has a particular focus on floorwork and improvisation, both with a high level of physicality. Expect to get sweaty and explore the parts of the mind and body that don't often receive our attention.

Long sleeves are helpful but not required for floorwork material.

Creative Director Beth lane is a dance artist, facilitator and arts leader. Fascinated by the body, her teaching is influenced by a range of somatic movement practices. She facilitates spaces to move which are thorough and specific, playful and imaginative. She considered the experience of the nervous system at the centre of her practice when making, dancing and facilitating. She continues her own learning in somatic practice with practitioners Shona Innes and Wendy Smith.

WHAT TO WEAR?:

Wear something comfortable to move in.

*This class is best experienced in a series, however casual attendance is available.
