Profiling and Debugging Tools for C and C++: Nsight Systems

This series introduces the essential tools for program profiling. Each workshop of the series will introduce one tool and you can register for the ones that are suitable for you.

You will learn to use command line tools to pinpoint exactly where your code is slowing down—identifying "bottlenecks"—and how to strategically optimise them. This course bridges the gap between writing code that works and writing code that scales, empowering researchers from all disciplines to maximise their computational resources and accelerate their time-to-discovery.

Nsight Systems is a system-wide performance analysis tool. It is widely used to profile CUDA applications, but it also traces CPU activity, OS runtime calls, and communication libraries such as MPI, giving a timeline view of how the whole application behaves and where the bottlenecks are.

1. Experience with C or C++ programming.
