Project: Back to School

Project School Start – Free Back-to-School Support Event

Getting ready for the new school year can be expensive, so SJCRC is here to help make it a little easier for local families! 💛

Project School Start is a free community event designed to help families across the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale reduce the cost of preparing their children for school.

Registered families will have access to a range of brand-new school essentials, including shoes, socks, underwear, backpacks, lunch boxes, drink bottles and stationery, alongside a selection of quality second-hand school items and donated school uniforms.

Our much-loved free school uniform rack will also be available, with donated uniforms remaining completely free for families to access.

☑️ Brand-new school essentials
🎒 Backpacks, lunch boxes and stationery
👟 Shoes, socks and other everyday necessities
👕 Free second-hand school uniforms and school resources
🧁 Complimentary muffins and drinks

Families can register for one of Four scheduled sessions, helping us create a relaxed, welcoming environment where everyone has a fair opportunity to access the available resources.

There is no need to provide proof of financial hardship or disclose your family's circumstances. We understand that the cost of living is affecting households in many different ways, and every family deserves the opportunity to give their children a positive start to the school year.

This is about more than school supplies. It's about easing some of the pressure on parents and carers, helping children feel prepared and confident, and bringing our community together to support local families. 💛

Let's help our local kids head back to school feeling ready to learn, grow and shine! ✨

A little note about the event: This event is designed to help reduce the cost of getting children ready for school by providing access to essential items. It is not intended to supply everything on a child's full school booklist or replace all back-to-school shopping. Our aim is to ease some of the financial pressure by helping families access a selection of useful school essentials. Limits apply per family, and items are subject to availability.

📌 Please be mindful of your booking: Places are extremely limited, and we want to support as many local families as possible. If you can no longer attend your selected session, please cancel your Humanitix ticket as soon as possible so another family can take your place.

Proudly supported by our community: Project: Back to School has been made possible thanks to funding through the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale General Grants and the support of the SJCRC Community Op-Shop. We are grateful for this support, which helps us provide practical assistance to local families and make the start of the school year a little easier.
