Event description

MusicSA and the City of Mount Gambier are thrilled to present this special free event, bringing together two dynamic forces in Australian independent music: Anty & Ollie from the iconic The Bennies, and the acclaimed artist Montaigne.

Drawing on their incredible journey as an indie band that has released five records, toured extensively both nationally and internationally, and achieved both commercial and critical success, Anty & Ollie will offer invaluable insights into the realities of building a long-lasting career. They'll share their experiences navigating the often-challenging landscape of the indie scene, discussing how they've:

  • Battled adversity and stayed resilient
  • Embraced an entrepreneurial spirit to forge their own path
  • Navigated lineup and label changes
  • Leveraged ingenuity, hard work, and unwavering persistence to build a career spanning over 15 years.

Joining them is the extraordinary Montaigne, an artist who has achieved a Top 5 album on the ARIA charts, won the ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist in 2016, and whose powerful voice has resonated globally – including their unforgettable feature on the Hilltop Hoods' chart-topping hit ‘1955’.

Montaigne will speak to the crucial importance of collaboration in the music industry, the power of pushing creative boundaries, the significance of standing up for your beliefs, and their inspiring commitment to encouraging others to embrace their most authentic selves.

Following their individual insights, both Anty & Ollie and Montaigne will participate in a Q&A session, offering you the opportunity to ask your burning questions directly.

While these conversations are particularly focused on the experiences of artists and music entrepreneurs, anyone with an interest in the music industry, creative development, and inspiring personal journeys is warmly welcome to attend.

Tickets are free, but attendance is limited by the venue's capacity. Secure your spot now for an evening of invaluable knowledge, inspiring stories, and connection with leading figures in Australian music.
