Event description

Delivered by shEqual, a Women’s Health Victoria service, this online workshop aims to build the capacity of health promotion, gender equity, communication and media professionals, to embed gender equality in communications.

When we campaign to promote gender equality, the way we go about it matters. Whether building a campaign around 16 Days of Activism or International Women's Day, creating and sharing social media posts, writing articles, delivering training, or advertising and marketing products and services, this workshop is a great chance to grow your confidence to effectively promote gender equality through your role.

This workshop is open to staff and members of CARE Partner organisations as well as stakeholders working in health promotion, PVAW/GE, communication roles within local government and community health, and local media in the Loddon Mallee region.

The interactive session will cover the following topics:

  • Sexism and how it occurs in advertising and communications.
  • The health impacts of sexist advertising and communications, and how this contributes to gender inequality.
  • How to take action to reduce sexist advertising and communication content.
  • An introduction to tools and resources for creating inclusive content and campaigns.
