Proudly Us
Event description
Where once only questions, we now have answers. Embark on a journey as we hear from three panellists about connection to place, their authentic experiences being queer, and the ups and downs of their every day in the rollercoaster they call Life.
Join us in a celebration of unique experiences as we share in the emotions and delve beyond the minutia of buzz words and recycled questions. Have a drink, learn and listen and don’t forget to enjoy the always gorgeous Flaming Galah.
Please see below bio's of the panelist who will be speaking on the night.
Matt F
Matt F is a Queer, Yuwibara and South Sea Islander student currently studying Public Health. He is passionate about health promotion with a focus in LGBTQIA+SB, Sexual, Indigenous and AOD harm minimisation. They are currently apart of the Walkern Katatdjin (Rainbow Knowledge) Youth Avoidance Group and have/continue to volunteer with WAAC, Freedom Centre, Perth Bears and Perth Pride Shed.
Matt
Matt (He/him) is a 25-year-old trans man. Born and raised in Fremantle, he is still very attached to this special place. He completed his bachelor’s with honours in psychology and looks forward to starting his clinical masters next year. He currently works at the Gender Diversity Service at PCH where he does research and recruitment. He loves to surf, run and just generally be outdoors.
Shelley
Just like the many tabs open in their brain, Shelley does way too many things — including studying Law, Politics & International Relations at Notre Dame Fremantle, being President of STRIPES (Notre Dame’s LGBTQIA+ club), Accessibility Rep for the Student Association, and being a member of Youth Pride Network. Shelley is a 23-year-old agender queer person who thrives on chaos, creativity, and iced coffee. If it involves advocacy, art, or accidentally starting a new project, they’re probably already doing it.
Allie
Allie Messenger (She/They) is a volunteer and youth worker within the youth and LGBTQIA+ communities. She adores the opportunities she has had to work with communities across Perth, finding herself working with Youth Pride Network, WAAC, alongside government departments, and more! She is a current social work student and is hoping to pursue a future career in the fields of mental health and sexology.
