Providing a Palliative Approach in Aged & Community Care for Care Workers

PEPA aims to improve care worker’s knowledge, skills and confidence in caring for people with life-limiting illness.
The content of this FREE workshop will be delivered online over a six week period.
These online workshops are aimed at those care workers who are NEW to palliative care in the community and residential aged care settings. At the conclusion of this workshop series, participants will come away with a greater understanding of the palliative approach to care.
Learning Objectives:
- To understand the principles of palliative care
- To understand the principles of effective communication
- To increase confidence in communicating with recipients of palliative care and their families/carers
- To understand about Advance Care Planning
- To develop an awareness of the ethical issues that can arise when working in palliative care
- To understand the importance of caring for yourself and identify when additional support may be necessary
