Event description

Join NAWIC Wellington members for a look around PSA House.

PSA House Stage 2 is a substantial seismic strengthening to 100% NBS of the c. 1979 office building belonging to and occupied by the Public Service Association Te PÅ«kenga Here Tikanga Mahi (PSA), at 11 Aurora Terrace, Wellington. The work addresses typical seismic issues for a building of the era: precast hollowcore floors, asymmetric shear walls, indirect load paths and scissor stairs. Intervention is extensive, and involves substantially complete replacement of services and interior fitout in addition to both steel and reinforced concrete structural works from the basement upward. The result will be a significantly improved asset and workplace for the PSA and their tenants. The project is more than halfway through an eighteen-month programme so this is the last chance to see the heavy construction before the interesting bits get hidden behind the finishes.

The speakers are John MacDonald & Caryl Wilson from Mckenzie Higham Architects.

Project team: PSA, Mckenzie Higham Architects, Clendon Burns & Park Ltd, Aurecon & Maycroft.
