Pathway To Employment: Education today for change tomorrow
Event description
Australia is facing a youth employment crisis.
Accelerated by COVID-19, an economic downturn and a lack of graduate opportunities have created uncertainty and anxiety for their future prospects.
According to Jeff Borland from the University of Melbourne, university students are set to face the toughest job market since the recession in the 1990s. Whilst Seek has stated their job advertisements have hit an all-time high, there is a clear lack of graduate positions available, making it harder and harder for the youth of Australia to obtain employment opportunities in their relevant fields.
Communiteer invites you to join us for the next 6 months on our Pathway to Employment Campaign where we aim to bring together university students, corporate volunteers and not-for-profits to collaborate on skilled volunteering projects.
Why should you attend?
Facilitator Victor Lee, the CEO of Communiteer will be joined by a panel of experts from Dell, UTS & AVI.
We’ll discuss the barriers to employment for our youth, how not-for-profits on the ground can be supported through skilled volunteering, and where businesses can direct their resources to help.
By coming together we can widen the pathway to employment all while maintaining progress towards SDG 4; Quality Education and SDG 8; Decent Work & Economic Growth.
Our panel of experts:
- Louise Dean, Dell Corporate Social Responsibility Lead
- Ipsita Wright, AVI Executive Manager International Services
- Alex Connor, UTS SOUL Award Lead, Centre for Social Justice & Inclusion
