Public Lecture Series 1: Beyond Dynasties and Disinformation: Strengthening the Foundations of Deliberative Democracy in the Philippines
Description
The story of Philippine democracy extends beyond dynasties and disinformation. In this talk, Prof Nicole Curato, in conversation with Amaliah Sepi Sultanbatao, explores the practices of deliberative democracy already present in the Philippines, and considers how these forms of inclusive, reflective dialogue can be strengthened amid corruption, political patronage, conflict, and discrimination.
The event is open to all and will include dedicated time for discussion and Q&A.
