Public Meeting: Housing and Homelessness
Event description
Right now, Aucklanders need a stable government focused on making things better for everyone. Warm, affordable homes are our priority.
Aucklanders know that under the National government, housing is becoming less accessible, unaffordable and homelessness is on the rise.
Despite the Minister of Finance promising to deliver 1000 public houses in Auckland each year, this has reduced significantly, and planned housing projects have been put on hold. This is all while making it more difficult to get into emergency housing.
Auckland Council recorded a 53% rise in people sleeping rough in the city over a four-month period. Our most vulnerable are becoming more and more at risk of being left without a roof over their head. We can do better.
Join Labour MPs, Hon Kieran McAnulty, spokesperson for Housing, Hon Carmel Sepuloni MP for Kelston, Hon Phil Twyford MP for Te Atatū and Vanushi Walters Labour List MP for a public meeting on housing with a panel on Auckland’s rising homelessness.
