In collaboration with the AAEEBL ePortfolio Review (AePR), the Digital Ethics Task Force is proposing a special issue sharing open educational resources of the principles in practice. This issue will join efforts to make evidence-based ePortfolio practice explicit and accessible (Eynon & Gambino, 2018; Yancey, 2019; Donaldson, 2022). This workshop helps participants brainstorm and start drafting a submission for that special issue.

The facilitators

Dr. Amy Cicchino

Amy Cicchino, PhD, is Associate Director for the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL. Her research takes up high-impact practices — including ePortfolios — educator professional development, and multimodal teaching and communication across the disciplines and has appeared in venues such as IJeP, ePortfolio as Curriculum (2019), and the Online Literacy Open Resource. In addition to her work with AAEEBL she has leadership roles in GSOLE, AWAC, and HIPs in the States.

Dr. Theresa Conefrey

Theresa Conefrey, PhD, is Senior Lecturer in English and Adjunct Faculty at Santa Clara University in California, USA. She is also Director of the university’s Peer Educator program. She teaches writing and communication courses to both undergraduate and graduate students. Her research interests focus on improving undergraduate learning and promoting the academic achievement of underrepresented learners. She is particularly interested in equity and inclusion in STEM fields. She is passionate about all things ePortfolio and a member of the AAEEBL Task Force on Digital Ethics in ePortfolios.

Dr. Peter McLellan

Peter makes space for relationship, ideas, and play in his role as Educational Analyst at Oxford College of Emory University, where he directs the Milestone reflection curriculum. Holding a doctorate in Bible and Cultures from Drew University, his work continues to live at the intersection of theologically-infused concepts of justice and the fraught relationships between marginalized and privileged communities. His current research focuses on antiracist pedagogy and methods for assessing institutional effectiveness through student stories and agency. His published work can be found in publications like The International Journal of ePortfolio and Biblical Interpretation, as well as in his forthcoming book, The Gospel of Mark and Other Haunted Places. Peter enjoys putting his research into practice by collaborating with teams across Oxford and between institutions to make material, lasting changes that center pedagogical justice.

Outside institutional life, Peter runs, follows the Green Bay Packers, indulges in a wide range of music, and explores fantasy worlds in tabletop games, video games, books, and television, primarily with his favorite adventuring party: his partner Jenny, their daughter Molly, and their cowardly goldendoodle Eddie.
