What to Expect
Get ready for one of Puhoi Village’s biggest days of the year!
The Puhoi Axemen Annual Woodchopping Carnival brings together top axemen and women from around New Zealand for a full day of competitive woodchopping right in the grounds of the historic Puhoi Pub.
Expect fast-paced chopping events, standing and underhand chops, sawing, springboard events and plenty of action, with great viewing from the grandstand and around the grounds.
It’s more than just the woodchopping – expect a fantastic family-friendly atmosphere, food and drinks available throughout the day, raffles, merchandise and a packed crowd enjoying this long-standing Puhoi tradition.
Once the chopping finishes, the celebrations continue with live music from 6.30pm, making it a great day out from morning through to the evening.
