La Mesa de Mauro - Fireside Lunch at Punt Road

As part of the 2025 Wine Yarra Valley Fireside Festival, Punt Road Wines presents La Mesa de Mauro “Mauro’s Table”, a collaborative winter long-lunch with Mauro Callegari, Chef Patron of the hatted and lauded Independent in Gembrook.
Born in Buenos Aires and now based in the Dandenong Ranges, Mauro’s cooking blends modern Argentinian technique with deep family influences. His four-course menu is bold, generous and built for sharing. It will be served in our barrel hall, transformed into a warm, intimate space for the afternoon.
Hosted by winemaker Jarrod Johnson, the lunch will feature a rotating selection of Punt Road and Airlie Bank wines, Napoleone Cider, and soft drinks. Everything is included in the ticket price. No extras on the day.
Menu highlights include:
Empanadas, black pudding croquettes, ox-tongue sandwiches
Grilled chorizo, calamari, eggplant escabeche
Beef short rib with chimichurri and seasonal sides
Classic Latin American desserts with Mauro’s twist
