Purple Prose: Connect for Mental Health

As part of our 2Spirits and QC Mental Health Week event, join us for a special poetry showcase and journaling experience. Our event brings together our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Sistergirl and Brotherboy (LGBTIQ+SB) communities to share and celebrate stories of resilience and recovery through creative expression. Whether you're a seasoned poet or love the written word, there’s a space for you.

Date: Saturday the 12th of October, 2024

Time: 11am - 3pm

Location: New Farm Neighbourhood Centre

Enjoy poetry displays, journal decorating, and a BBQ in a welcoming atmosphere for connection and creativity. For people wishing to submit their own poetry, see the guidelines below.

Guidelines for submissions: 

  • Please submit all poems in 1 document 
  • Please submit maximum of five poems and a maximum of 10 pages 
  • One submission per person. If you would like to make another submission, please email me. 
  • If you’re submitting images or videos with your poetry, please articulate how you would like it presented in a display. 
  • Please include content warnings for sensitive topics or language such as mentions of suicide and/or slurs 
  • Please be mindful that there will only be one lap top available for displaying videos 
  • Please identify if you wish for your submission to be anonymous 
  • Otherwise, include a bio about yourself and any collaborators – please keep them under 100 words.
