Purpose with Profit

Event description

Being purpose driven isn't just for social enterprises. Businesses that 'live their purpose', balance profit with a strong reason for being. They can articulate the benefits they seek to deliver, and who they are. When done authentically, purpose can be seen in everything the business does and leads to increased value for shareholders and all other stakeholders.

Research shows purpose driven businesses experience faster growth, greater employee engagement and better stakeholder relationships. Yet, many businesses continue to focus on one bottom line: profit; and put the other 'bottom lines' in the too hard basket. Profit is easy, purpose is hard!

However, many purpose driven leaders take it in their stride. For them, being purpose driven is just a part of how things get done. From the board room to the shop floor, there are practical things you can do to instil 'for purpose' approaches into a profit driven enterprise.

Hear from four purpose driven business leaders on how to instil 'for purpose' approaches into profit making enterprises:

  • Michael Watts, Managing Director, ToBe Advisory
Michael enables boards and business leaders to be confident in their organisation's profitability, sustainability and impact; through triple bottom line reporting, and B Corporation assessments. He is the founder of ToBe Advisory, which exists to make the world a better place by instilling 'for-purpose' as a key reason for profit in all organisations.
  • Brodie McCulloch, Managing Director, Core Innovation Hub; Founder, Spacecubed
Brodie is passionate about building ecosystems that support people and organisations who are interested in building the future of work. As Founder of Spacecubed he has led positive change in the community through Spacecubed's spaces, programs and platform. He is also Managing Director of Core Innovation Hub, Australia’s first co-working, collaboration and innovation hub focused on resources technology, where the resources and energy sector powers the human enterprises of tomorrow.
  • Katie Liew, Founder, The Underground Collaborative
Katie is passionate about helping to break the cycles of homelessness, as well as its stigmas, and to shift society's perception and help raise awareness on our social issues. Demonstrating this commitment, Katie founded The Underground Collaborative, which exists to provide employment and housing solutions for the homeless, at-risk and disadvantaged.
  • Kylie Hansen, Co-Founder and Director, Impact Seed
Kylie has worked extensively across community, corporate, social finance and government sectors and is Co-Founder of Impact Seed, WA’s only social enterprise and impact investment capacity builder. Impact Seed is also one of only a handful of WA companies to have attained Certified B Corporation status, demonstrating a commitment to a duality of purpose with profit.

There will also be attendees from various purpose driven enterprises and certified B Corporations, that walk the talk of balancing profit with purpose. The evening will include networking, a brief presentation, and panel discussion followed by Q&A; with the charismatic and entertaining Aaron Ryder (Manager, Churchill Consulting) as MC!.

If you work for a B Corporation, Social Enterprise or Not for Profit, please contact the event organiser for a code to access free tickets, sponsored by ToBe Advisory!
For everyone else: any surplus from this event will be donated to The Underground Collaborative, contributing to employment and housing solutions for those experiencing homelessness.
