Event description

Join Symone Male and Kym Barrett in an informal Q&A discussion at ART POST.

Find out more about the ideas behind Symone's exhibition "Holding On & Letting Go".

Symone asks herself these questions.

“Why do we hold on to emotional baggage and physical items? What is the relationship between the two? What will happen if we let go of these things? What is on the other side of this purge and release and the gaping chasm of unknown?”

Symone specialises in large-scale oil portraits. From 1998 – 2008 she focused on the female essence and form. Since then, she has been interested in capturing the inner spirit of children, musicians, and other creatives.

Symone has painted numerous Brisbane artists including Seja Vogel of Regurgitator, Eddie Jacobson of Butterfingers, and Luke Henery of Violent Soho.

Moving further afield Symone has painted radio and television personality Myf Warhurst and rock legend Joan Jett. Moving outside of the music arena Symone has painted Brisbane artist Maureen Hanson, Australian film maker Phoebe Hart, and indigenous environmental and human rights activist Adrian Burragubba.
