Q: The Language of Trees
Event description
We sometimes forget that it’s not all about us. Humans make up a fraction of life on Earth yet our decisions impact everything. What if we gave trees a say in things? We’d have to get to know trees better. There are scientists doing just that to answer questions about climate, food and cities.Â
Join us for a quick-fire quiz, a demo, and Q&A with our panel of speakers who each are trying to understand trees better to improve our lives.
Our panel of speakers consists of:
Dr Samuel Holt, LiDAR Product Manager & Programme Manager at Aerometrex and previously part of the Research & Development Team, focuses on the use of geospatial data. Including airborne LIDAR, to support informed land management practices and help build community resilience to a wide range of environmental hazards associated with ongoing climate change.
+
Assoc. Professor Beth Loveys, School of Agriculture, Food and Wine, University of Adelaide, who has researched plant ecophysiology and the effects of global climate change on plant growth. Her interests have expanded to include education and learning research.
+
Dr Kate Delaporte is the Curator of the Waite Arboretum and Waite Conservation Reserve, University of Adelaide. Where she works on improving our understanding of the Urban Forest and Australian native plants for horticulture.
One complimentary drink and nibbles will be provided.
