Campaign Launch: Not too young to run
Event description
Did you know that in Victoria, the majority of local councillors are males aged over 46 years old?! In fact, the number of councillors aged over 76 is increasing, whilst the number aged under 25 is decreasing.
We find this statistic wild, and are hoping to change this with the upcoming Victorian Local Council Elections in October. There are still 5 weeks left before any nominations to run are due, and we want to see more and more young Victorians running and elected.Â
Join us for this interactive launch party for Not Too Young To - an organisation on a mission to increase civic engagement and political participation amongst young Victorians.Â
We believe in a world where young people are central to solution building, policy-making and lasting change through politics. At this heart of this is starting to demystify the way the political landscape works - one election at a time. So come along and...
1. Hear from young people around Victoria who have run for local council before, are planning to run, (or are about to be convinced they should run!)
2. Learn about the role and influence of local council + the upcoming elections and how to get involved (and elected)
3. Ask any question front of mind for you!
Curious? Grab a ticket, join the event, and be inspired by all the young people that have gone down this path before or plan to this year.
