QHouse x Yirranma Place (Mardi Gras Event)
Event description
Yirranma Place x QIP NSW presents QHouse!
We hope you’re as thrilled as us to discover the multifaceted Yirranma Place, featuring an exciting twist at our very first EORA/SYDNEY QHouse event of 2025 during Mardi Gras.
The name Yirranma (yeer-rahn-ma) translates to "many create”, reflecting the spirit of this remarkable 1927 Beaux Arts building, designed by the talented Australian architect Samuel George Thorp and recently refurbished by SJB. Yirranma Place is a "Community Precinct for Social Purpose", a space where for-purpose organisations, social enterprises, and people working for social change can collaborate, and for the local community to enjoy.
Join QIP NSW for an unforgettable evening filled with FUN, HISTORY, CULTURE, VIBES and the essence of THE MARDI GRAS SEASON – a celebration of ALL THINGS QUEER!!
We are proud to collaborate with great partners and allies. This event is generously sponsored by CBRE and empowered by Two Good & Co, to showcase the incredible potential of architecture to adapt and revitalise iconic historical spaces for diverse uses.
Additionally, Shelter NSW will introduce its crucial research report on LGBTQIA+ Community Housing, highlighting its importance for queer communities at local, national, and global levels. This is an essential read - "Examining the intersectionality of housing needs for the LGBTIQA+ community across the City of Sydney!"
