Description

This 6-week Qigong term offers a structured and supportive introduction to traditional Chinese movement and breath practices designed to cultivate balance, calm, and embodied awareness. The program focuses on learning Shibashi Set 1 and the 8 Pieces of Brocade series, two gentle sequences that emphasise fluid movement, coordinated breathing, and mindful attention.

Across the term, participants are invited to slow down, step out of habitual mental busyness, and reconnect with the body in a steady and grounded way. Drawing on principles from Chinese medicine, the practice explores the relationship between movement, breath, emotional regulation, and internal balance. Each session supports the circulation of Qi through the body, helping to release tension, improve posture, and promote a sense of ease.

Classes are suitable for complete beginners and are taught with clear, accessible instruction. With regular practice, Qigong can support improved energy, emotional steadiness, and a calmer, more settled state of mind.

Learn Qigong with experienced teacher Adam Wiltshire who has over 9 years of teaching experience. Adam has trained with master’s from around the world and teaches a mix of traditional Qigong and Tai Chi styles.

Class structure

All classes begin with a standing meditation, followed by a warm up series and the main Qigong forms for your class. There will be standing meditations throughout the class and a closing meditation at the end. The whole class is taught standing up, although some of the forms can be modified for participant’s who need to be seated.

This is a gentle class that is suited to all body types, ranges of motion, and is suitable for those recovering from injury. Please notify Adam of any injuries or mobility constraints at the start of term so that he can accomodate your needs and requirements.

Each class will start at 6:30pm and last for 1 hour with opportunities for questions at the end. Term dates are from Tuesday 10th November through to Tuesdy 15th December.

How to prepare

Please set up comfortable space at home to do each online class and wear comfortable clothes that are suitable for movement and that are not restrictive. You are advised not to have a big meal 2 hours before class starts as these Qigong forms work on the organs and it may cause you discomfort.

Attendance policy

Participant’s are allowed to miss up to two classes of the term, please inform Adam in advance if you need to miss a class. Any missed classes will not be refunded and you will still need to pay for the full term of 6 classes. A recording of each class will be provided to all participants.

Class Dates

The class starts on Tuesday 3rd November and runs until Tuesday 8th December over 6 consecutive weeks.
