Our education program provides Legal Studies students with the opportunity to engage with the work of the Legislative Assembly.
Program detailsÂ
Who
- Year 10 to 12 Legal Studies or Social and Community Studies studentsÂ
Group sizeÂ
- We have a maximum capacity of 30 to 50 students, depending on the date.Â
Duration
- 9.30am to 12.30pm, with a 9.15am arrival time.

Morning tea
- Students are asked to bring a small snack to enjoy during their visit.
Other important information
- All supervising staff and students must pass through security screening to enter the parliamentary precinct.Â
- All supervising adults must bring a Government Issued Photo ID (a precinct entry requirement).Â
- Some photography restrictions apply.Â

What's involved?Â
Students will:Â
- Learn key legal concepts such as representative government, responsible government, separation of powers doctrine and unicameralism.
- Explore and analyse the legislative process through a role play.
- View the Legislative Assembly in action (sitting days only).Â
- Discover the architectural features and history of Parliament House.
- Gain an understanding of the role of a member of parliament with a Q&A involving your local member (subject to availability).Â
