Wed, 14 Oct, 9:30pm - 10:15pm EDT

Description

Join QSA intern Serra Yao for a conversation about her research into country profiles for QSA’s current projects. What does it mean to understand a development project in context?

Drawing on QSA’s work with St Jude Family Projects in Uganda, this Q&A session explores the wider socioeconomic forces shaping people’s lives. It discusses how gender equality, disability, public health, and displacement affect communities and their livelihoods. It also reflects on why country-level analysis matters and how it can help QSA make more informed decisions about partnership strategies and international development.

About the presenter

Serra Yao (she/her) is an undergraduate student at the University of Sydney, majoring in Politics and International Relations and American Studies. Her interests include the intersections of gender and law. Through her internship with QSA, she has explored questions of development, advocacy and social change across different parts of the world.

Originally from Shenzhen, China, Serra has also worked with Jesuit Refugee Service Australia.

QSA Q&As are held online on the third Thursday of each month. They offer an opportunity to meet staff and volunteers and explore QSA’s projects and approaches.
